B.C. TEAL
ELSA Directory

ELSA Net introduces an on-line interactive database Directory of ESL Courses and Employment Programs in British Columbia 2006. This expanded directory not only includes the latest information on ESL courses in the province, but now offers information on employment programs for immigrants.

Please visit http://elsanet.org/esldirectory/ directly, or go to www.elsanet.org and access the directory site from the link on the lower right of the homepage.

The expanded directory not only includes the latest information on ESL courses in the province, but now offers information on employment programs for immigrants. ELASA Net is also excited that one of the features of this site is a fully functioning updateable database – with straightforward areas for providers to edit and add listings (facilitated by web designer brianchard.com). This means that immigrant and refugee clients or those that assist newcomers in B.C. with referrals now have access to an updated store of information. (Note that the information will be up to date only insofar as providers keep their information current.)

In this newly expanded edition, researcher Erika Del Carmen Fuchs and the committee behind the project focused on employment programs specifically tailored to immigrant and refugee clients, although you will find some programs that welcome a broader client base. A sample of the comprehensive range of listings include: business and internship programs, resume writing, trades training / apprenticeship, career decision making, individual employment counseling, job referral and placement services, and focused training programs such as English for trades, accounting English, practical nursing refresher / bridging program, etc. Note that regional area PDFs of the database are also available on the site for downloading (current as of March 2006).

If you have any questions regarding access to the directory, contact directory@elsanet.org

Please add the link http://elsanet.org/esldirectory/to any relevant websites that may assist with communicating this information to stakeholders. We appreciate your support in this project and hope that you will pass along this notice to your staff.
